ITEM:   Table Centrepiece/Fruit Bowl  (Ref. 034 )

MAKER:  Brockwitz, Germany c.1941 

DESCRIPTION:  Finished in frosted and polished pink glass, this magnificent art deco Squirrel handled bowl was manufactured by Brockwitz, Germany, and is illustrated in their catalogue for the year 1941. 

A very large bowl measuring  15" at its widest point, over 5" high and 10.5" deep. Weighs over 2 kgs.

This is one of a series of figural handled bowls by Brockwitz,  amongst other designs were fish, birds and lions.  The squirrel bowl is quite scarce, and is highly prized amongst collectors. The bowl has raised diamond shaped panels interspaced with frosted motifs of acorns, and the base is patterned  with beautifully frosted oak leaves.  Each handle depicts a squirrel nibbling an acorn perched on a leafy oak branch.  To give an idea of size, the squirrel handles measure 3" high.

A wonderful example of art deco glass, worthy of a place in your collection.

CONDITION:  Very good with the exception of a sliver chip on the rear of one of the feet, otherwise fine.
